Calibe Thompson is the co-founder and current president at Island SPACE, establishing programs, writing grants, managing admin and communications, with the guidance of the organization’s prestigious Board of Directors.

In her other life, Thompson is the Creative Director and lead seeker of perfection at media and creative agency, Island Syndicate Inc. She is an outgoing Jamaican-American entrepreneur with titles including TV producer, publisher, director, host, best-selling author, columnist and public speaker. In 2015 she became the first Jamaican Executive Producer to secure series placement on US national public television. Her flagship show “Taste the Islands” was the first Caribbean culinary series that the network giants PBS and Create TV had broadcast nationally. Her programs have aired in 46 American states, over 20 Caribbean countries, Canada, the United Kingdom and Brunei.

At Island Syndicate, Thompson oversees operations, steering the development of print publications, marketing materials, and video production for corporate clients. She also manages the publication of the company’s Caribbean American lifestyle magazine, “Island Origins”, and co-produces their annual culinary event “The Taste the Islands Experience.”

Her diverse career has spanned over two decades in the entertainment industry and has seen her move from touring the world as a vocalist with stars such as Beenie Man, Kevin Lyttle and Kymani Marley to lending her smooth Jamaican accent to commercials and TV shows.

Thompson has been recognized as one of the Top 40 Under 40 Leaders and Future Leaders of Broward County and one of the Most Prominent and Influential Black Women in Business and Industry  by Legacy Magazine, as a Rising Star by the International Career and Business Alliance, as Best Communicator of the Year in TV by the Black Owned Media Alliance, as part of the team producing the “Best Multicultural Program” for the 2018 Synergy Summit for Cultural & Heritage Tourism, and has been nominated as Innovator of the Year by the People Profile Awards. “Island Origins Magazine” is also the winner of four Florida Magazine Association Awards. She holds a BA in Architecture from the University of Technology, sits on the Board of the Florida Magazine Association, and remains married to her work.

Thompson’s ongoing mission is to develop engaging presence for a variety of brands, and within her own creative space, to generate high quality, Caribbean-inspired media for a sophisticated, mainstream audience.
